Australia Is On Fire

Posted by S.M. Carrière on January 10, 2013 at 9:30 AM

I'm a little stressed out at the moment.  Half my family lives in Australia, which is experiencing a record-breaking heatwave and much of the country is currently engulfed in flame.  Raging bush fires from Queensland to Tasmania have already done more damage than I care to talk about.

It's so hot in Australia, the Department of Meteorology has added two new colours to their heat scale.  I kid you not.

Alright people, will you now start taking this global warming threat seriously, please?

Sigh.

In other, much less depressing news, training went well last night.  There were so many people there it was a little tricky to move around.  The number of girls in the advanced class has risen... by one, but still, it's nice to see.  My knucles did not hold up well.  I forgot to bring bandaids, so my shredded knucles shredded some more, even though I was trying really hard not to get them to that point.  I'm wearing bandaids now, though.  With antibacterial cream I stole from J.M-B.  Ah.... sweet Mother of Goodness that feels better!

After training, my Kung Fu brother K.C. wanted to see what Skyrim was all about, so I played a bit.  Died a lot.  Then played a bit more.  And a bit more.  And even more even after he went home.  And a little bit more.

I turned off the XBox at 1:00am.

This, this is the reason I am not allowed to play the XBox during the week!  Despite not getting nearly as much rest as I could have, I am feeling alright this morning.  Though, mind you, today's crash will come around 2:00pm rather than 3:00pm.  Let's hope I can get all my writing in before then.

About the writing, I managed another three thousand words yesterday, and I finished the scene I had been waiting to write for a while now.  The next big scene, with a pretty awesome speech by the fictional Commander Bennejin Skye, whom I would marry in a heartbeat if he, you know, existed... and was interested.  I just got weird again.  I'm sorry.

Ahem... Yes....  there is an epic speech the Commander Skye will say to the entire world, and I really hope I get to it today, because it will be so satisfying to put it down on (digital) paper.  He's been rehearsing it in my head for about a week now, you see.

Alright, the coffee has kicked in.  I'm over-tired.  This is the perfect combination for writing my nonsense.  I should get to work!  Have a fantastical day, everyone!

A dear friend of mine is from Tassie and has friends and family in Aus still; he is also worried about folks back in Aus. My good thoughts go out to you and yours.
